CCDE Seminar - Alcohol Education

Child Health and Development Seminar - Keynote Speaker: Professor Richard Midford

“Harm minimisation alcohol education for school students: The more the better?”

Tuesday 18 July 2017 from 2.30pm - 3.30pm  Seminar Room 1.48 - Red 9 Building - Charles Darwin University

This free seminar will explore the ‘dose effect’ of Australian alcohol harm minimisation education through secondary analysis of the Australian Secondary Students Alcohol and Drug (ASSAD) survey. The ASSAD survey gathers data on alcohol “ever use”, consumption, and harm. It also gathers data on the lessons about alcohol that students recall receiving during the past year. Examining the relationship between alcohol-related behaviour and the amount of education recalled provides an indication of its preventive effect. The seminar will discuss the partial success of Australian alcohol education and offer suggestions to make it more effective.
